Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. In her early years, she went to the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. From the age of six Emma knew she would like to be an actress. For many years she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught the art of acting and dancing. The actress had performed in a variety of Stagecoach or school shows when she was ten years old. The casting process began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agents through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been chosen for these characters. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first screen appearance took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's debut in 2001. It was the year's top grossing film, breaking records at the opening as well as the first weekend. It was highly acclaimed by experts, and also by the performances of its three starlets. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British newspaper, was awed by her for her outstanding performance. Emma's performance received nominations and later won awards for the film.
